Description
A brain contusion device designed for research using rats and mice
The TBI-031000 represents a significant advancement over the widely adopted PSI TBI-0310, which has set the global standard for controlled cortical impactors for the past two decades. This new device features substantial enhancements in impact speed, depth, and dwell time control, markedly improving the precision and reproducibility of injury models. It incorporates advanced machine learning algorithms to optimize impact velocity and a refined user interface for ease of use and consistent results.
The TBI-031000 impactor delivers consistent, reproducible, and accurate injuries to mice and rats, making it an essential tool for researchers studying traumatic brain injury mechanisms. Constructed on a durable pneumatic impact frame, the device now includes a high-resolution touchscreen with animated guidance, machine learning-based speed control, and a Class II medical power supply. The machine learning algorithms utilize data from previous impacts to ensure the best possible speed repeatability of any pneumatic impactor available. PSI’s proprietary Tare to Tissue contact sensor minimizes subjective user variability, ensuring micrometer-level precision in impact depth.
The device includes two standard impact tips and supports a wide range of custom tip options. It is compatible with all major brands of stereotaxic frames (frames sold separately). Electronic controls are integrated onto the impact frame to minimize the system’s benchtop footprint. The touchscreen user interface can be crossbar mounted or configured in a portable benchtop display.
The TBI-031000 retains the user experience of the TBI-0310 while offering comprehensive updates to experimental procedures and calibration capabilities. Precision Systems and Instrumentation, a company with a thirty-year track record, has incorporated feedback from generations of researchers to develop the most capable CCI device ever. Let our ongoing commitment to high standards in US-based technical support, service, and expertise support your research.
